Currently Randolph has
been a participant in the GLOBE (Global Learning and Observations to Benefit
the Environment) program. GLOBE is one of the nation’s outstanding environmental
education programs, Randolph students started sending data on the Internet
in the fall of 1995. Our students, together with 6000 schools in 80 nations,
share scientific data about our planet via the Internet. We have an automated
roof top weather station. (Thanks to a partnership with Best Buy and WBBM-TV)
Scientists use GLOBE data in their research and provide feedback to the
students to enrich their science education. Images created from the student
sets are posted on the World Wide Web, allowing students and visitors at
the GLOBE web site to visualize the student environmental observations.
. Randolph students have sent over 8 thousand measurements to the GLOBE
data base since joining the program. |
